The quadruple Oscar-winner, The Grand Budapest Hotel, was filmed in the beautiful town of Görlitz on the eastern border of Germany in the state of Saxony. The original buildings and streets provide the perfect backdrop to Grand Hotel Budapest, The Book Thief, Inglourious Basterds and The Reader among other great films. Special tours follow in the footsteps of famous actors and directors.

In the past few years, Hollywood directors and their counterparts in Germany have discovered the beautiful town of Görlitz on the border between Germany and Poland. The charming town has become a desirable film location by famous directors and actors who admire Görlitz for the diversity of its buildings, the beautiful squares and charming streets. Most recently, Wes Anderson, director of Grand Hotel Budapest, sought out the former luxury department store, built in Art Nouveau style, for his main set. The film was a nominee for Best Picture and received eight additional nominations, and in the end, took home the top prizes for Costume Design, Production Design, Makeup and Hairstyling and Music (Original Score).
