New York-based architect Doug Larson was featured today in the Wall Street Journal for his marvelous mural on the side of the Pine Plains Platter in the town of Pine Plains, New York. The article tells about how Doug entered a competition and created an historical collage of vanished Pine Plains, including an enormous milk train under full steam pulling into the station, life-sized Indians meeting with visiting missionaries from Germany and the beautiful Davis house. The mural enlivens the upstate town’s streetscape and highlights the history of the area. It adorns the side of the Pine Plains Platter, a perfectly delicious pit stop where Chef Kelly serves up breakfast and lunch. The mural is located along one of Dutchess County’s most picturesque sight-seeing routes.
